Thanks Hyuk. Long time, it's good to hear from you. And I'm flattered by your confidence in me.

I've considered it. It's another game just like anything else.

To be honest, I think it's a bit TOO similar for me. I'm enjoying more and more the lifestyle side of things and pursuing my passions for sharing what I learned through teaching, writing and coaching.

    Hi Alec,

I really enjoy reading/listening to your blogs and video messages…. thanks!

I worked for an online poker site for almost three years handling customer support. Unfortunately, the site failed and I haven't been able to find another job in the industry. I'm restricted to working from my home and 'am tired of all the online scams out there promising thousands of dollars for minimal time invested. Do you have any suggestions regarding legitimate ways a person can make money online?

    Thanks,

    Randy

    Hi Randy,

Thanks for the compliment. Thanks for taking the time to write.

So regarding your situation in particular, the short, and painful answer is hard work, and a lot of screwing up.

Now take my "specific" advice with a grain of salt, as customizing something specifically to you will take a bit of getting to know you, your goals, passions, desires and practically, your skills.

It also means understanding how you want to market your "product", for example an online video course that is sold to mass volumes is much different than a weekly blog giving away free content where you offer private coaching. And both of these are different from traveling to do consulting.

Ultimately it comes down to what you want. That's the beauty of it I suppose.

Remember, the rule of marketing online is: it's not what you know, it's how you communicate that to your audience and sell it.

Please don't mistake that for trying to be sleezy. It's not, but the reality is that with so much content out there (most of it's useless), that people simply need to find your niche and connect with it. And that means being creative.

Now that's the business side of things. What about you?

What are your goals with this? What do you ultimately want to free up your time for? How much money or resources do you need to do it? Why are you wanting to start an online business in the first place (mobility, money, time, etc.).

Thinking about these in conjunction with your skills and background strategies as I stated above can help us narrow down something that's right for you. (write a detailed list of how you can provide value to a consumer – put yourself in their shoes… what do they want? Translation, what would you want if you were buying a product or service, then work backwards from there).

I hope this helps for now, however if you want to go deeper, and really kickstart this thing off the ground, I think working together privately could be something that could give you a more hands on approach that you may be looking for.

Either way, best of luck. Keep in touch.

    Alec
