The Fairmont Maui was a bitter sweet ending to our Hawaiian vacation, a testament to the hotels grandeur and the island’s brilliance.
Our feeling of longing while leaving meant that we had a great time, and, how all true vacation end; the feeling that it was never long enough.
The hotel is conducive to enjoying island living and a nice perk was the myriad of free activities that the hotel offered: from morning meditation to snorkeling on their pristine reefs.
The all suites property made us feel that we didn’t have to leave the room in order to enjoy the vacation, but could be guilt free just ordering room service and a movie.
A suggestion for improvement. Although they have a very comprehensive array of meal choices for all diets (vegan, gluten free, macrobiotic, low sugar), their food allergy program could use a little spark.
The hotel was extremely receptive to our dietary needs – emailing us a form to fill out so that all the restaurants were aware of any allergies, but also a call from the head of the food and beverage department upon arrival gave us confidence we were in good hands.
However, the two times we ate at the restaurants we would have hoped that alternative suggestions could be provided by the staff, or that we wouldn’t have to repeat our allergies. I wouldn’t have thought anything of it at a ‘normal’ hotel, but given the measures they seem to take to be sensitive toward guests, the implementation could be tweaked to be more seamless.
But if that’s the worst thing about one’s stay, then chances are they’re in good hands.
